About us
Established in the late 1800's - Homemade food from scratch!
Who we are
Marley’s started as a bar in the late 1800”s as a man’s bar no women allowed at that time it was called Normie Johns. It was named Marley’s about 28 years ago. I bought it in 2001 and kept the name so we could be a Victorian bar with the theme of Christmas carol and have a touch of Christmas spirit all year round.
I specialize in homemade from scratch food. We make our buns, Smoked brisket, chicken fajita meat, cudigi, soups, chili, deep fried chicken pot pie, deep fried pineapple, French fries, mushrooms and much more as our menu states. Our homemade BBQ sauce is from scratch containing no mustard since I the owner have an intolerance to it. Yes I does have jack daniels in it.
We were on Michigan magazine for our burgers cause we boil them in an aujus. We get special ground lean meat for our burgers. We are a customer oriented bar restaurant, community minded, family friendly. We are more of a pub then a bar since we do more food then drink.
I was an automotive engineer before I bought the bar 19 years ago. I noticeable use my time processing skills and organizing to keep things moving. People ask me how I can do the volume of food off our small grill area and I often tell them that’s all that time processing of making tools do cycle time , I don’t waste to may steps or reaches. My employees find me commenting on this often to help them save steps and energy.
The arrow in the back bar is said to been put there by Fred Bear in 1972. Asked why I can only say that if he asked me and because of who he was I would have let him too. We often believe Ted Nugent needs to place one next to it cause he is his idol.
We are Michigan bar so the sports memorabilia is Michigan teams, mainly red wings cause I am a major hockey fan.
At Christmas we decorate to get that Victorian Christmas effect.
